“The concept of Medicine Woman Dance started in a vision I had at my first Fire Dance, and expanded during the Dance for Peace, and the seed grew until I went to Mount Shasta, California. While my intention was to find a quiet place to meditate at the bottom of the mountain, Spirit had other ideas. I went into a trance state, took off my shoes, and hiked up the mountain barefoot. I got as near to the top as I could without using professional climbing gear, about 11,000 ft. I found a large rock and tried to meditate, but I heard clearly, “You are not one that meditates, you are a dancer, so dance!” And I did, scary as it was. I was above the timberline, singing and dancing alone in the space between Heaven and Earth. At that moment I knew I was being called to bring the power of ancient medicine dances to make radical changes in people’s lives, as the fire dances have done in mine.”
